The 1st UFRJ/Udesc Contemporary Composition Meeting: Musical Thought and Mythical Thought is an event dedicated to the dissemination and exchange of ideas regarding contemporary musical poetics.

Composers Lourdes Saraiva and Luigi Antonio Irlandini (UDESC), Liduino Pitombeira and Pauxy Gentil Nunes Filho (UFRJ), and Yuri Behr (USP/CNPq) will conduct a series of activities related to original musical works on May 15 and 16, 2025, from 10 AM to 7 PM, in Room 2116 of Torre Ventura, to reflect on the connection between the creative process and referentiality as its driving force.

The works will be presented in a video concert on the 15th, followed by a roundtable discussion on the 16th. Saraiva and Irlandini will offer composition masterclasses for UFRJ composition students, and Yuri Behr will lead a workshop on spectral music.

The Meeting will also take place at UDESC in June or August 2025. Participants will publish articles as an outcome of the event.

The event is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in composition and performance, as well as the general public.
